For you and your Family

Civil Claims

Our litigation team are well versed in consumer law and the sale of all kinds of goods and services. They have an instinct for negotiation when it comes to financial issues, especially where this might impact on your home or family life.

Sometimes an answer can be found by the use of an alternative dispute resolution approach like mediation or going to an independent arbitrator.

We try to look at what is cost effective and the most suitable way to help you to solve the problem.

Residential Landlord and Tenant

We help clients with difficulties with their residential leases, advise on landlords’ and tenants’ rights and obligations, issues of non payment of rent or service charges, rent deposits, breaches of repairing covenant, drafting and serving Notices of various kinds and bringing and defending possession proceedings.

We also advise on individual and collective leasehold enfranchisement guarantees and indemnities.

Employment Advice for Employees

We aim to provide sensible, pragmatic and cost effective advice for employees.

Our team can advise you regarding claims before an employment tribunal, the civil courts and on settlement. Our experience is broad and includes: unfair dismissal, bonus disputes, breach of contract, discrimination, whistleblowing, restrictive covenants and bullying and harassment. We regularly advise on compromise agreements.

Compromise Agreements

If your employer has given you a compromise agreement this usually means that they want to end your employment. In return for giving up your statutory and contractual employment rights, and the right to bring a claim in the employment tribunal and other courts, a compensation payment may be offered. A compromise agreement has benefits for both parties, certainty for you and your employer and a potentially a tax-free payment for you. Subject to HMRC rules up to thirty thousand pounds may be paid free of tax. Some payments will be taxable.

In order for the agreement to be binding the employee must receive independent legal advice in respect of the terms and effect of the agreement. It is customary for the employer to contribute, if not cover in full, your legal costs for obtaining advice on your compromise agreement.

Kaslers can advise you on the terms and effect of a compromise agreement. We will review the terms. If necessary we will negotiate on your behalf with your employer.

Buying a House or Flat

We handle all kinds of residential property transactions ranging from short tenancy agreements to high value prime real estate acquisitions and disposals. We act for owner occupiers and investors. We advise on lease extensions, auction sales and also some of the more unusual interests in land.

We act for most of the major institutional lenders who will help fund your transaction and many of the smaller ones also.

We aim to make your experience of buying and selling your home as stress free as possible with the minimum of fuss.

Divorce and Co-Ownership Disputes

We can help with your concerns, whatever your family circumstances are. We offer the full range of family law services. These include advice on divorce and separation, financial and property settlements and issues concerning residence.

We also handle sensitive issues like child contact and support as well as difficult matters such as seeking protection against violence.

These matters can be challenging whether you are married or not. However we try where possible to promote a non confrontational approach to help resolve these kinds of dispute.

We endeavour to work with all interested parties to achieve the right outcome for you and your family.

Wills and Administration of Estates

We can draw your Will and advise you on Estate and Tax Planning Issues. Our Private Client Department are also experienced in advising on Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection issues for those who are least able to look after themselves, for example the elderly, the disabled or those who are mentally incapacitated.

Our Private Client team know that all too often a measure of sensitivity is needed in dealing with these matters but equally in contentious cases a more robust approach will be called for.
